Athlete’s foot is a common rash that can affect anyone. It most commonly affects athletes, but it also happens to the average person at any time. What causes athlete’s foot?

Athlete’s foot is a fungus that thrives in damp areas such as swimming pools, showers and lockers rooms. It can be contracted from person-to-person transmission or if contaminated objects come into contact with it for an extended period of time like shoes.

What are the symptoms of athlete’s foot?

The most common sign of athlete’s foot is an itchy red rash on the feet. The condition occurs when wetness and dirt mix with bacteria, causing inflammation around your toes or in between them.
